The basic idea behind the principle of Five Elements is the use of balanced meals that contain taste of sweet, bitter, spicy, salty and sour, because then the body is supplied with energy, and increases resistance to disease.
Craving for sweets is a problem of eating the wrong foods and the wrong way to connect products. The spleen, kidneys, liver in order to perform vital functions need sugar, so if you do not provide your body with healthy, natural sugar with proper diet, you will admonish for sweets.
It seems easy …
The body should be provided food energy, which is rich in nutrients like vitamins, minerals and polyunsaturated fatty acids omega 3 and 6, such as millet soup (can be found in tab Recipes), which is a valuable nutrient for your body! Cravings for sweets should decrease with time completely disappear. The second reason may be the lack of fat in the body (I mean HEALTHY FATS-like clarified butter, flaxseed oil and even lard, which I will write about in future posts). This problem affects the most people that are constantly trying to lose weight :/. We can also see how this is a common problem for children. If you do not provide them with a healthy products, such as butter, they go back immediately reach for sweets because, sweets contain fats, unfortunately fats with sugar … and because of that they also contain preservatives, chemical ingredients, artificial colors, and many other non-healthy ingredients.
British scientists have warned that sugars can cause mood swings, difficulty in concentrating, hyperactivity and allergies. Even the thought of that gives me shivers 🙂
Excess intake of sweets can lead to dental caries, loss of vascular degeneration of cells. Sugar in order to be digested needs large amounts of vitamins and minerals. For example, the calcium from the teeth gets away – hence dental caries, getting iron from the blood leads to anemia, diabetes, etc.
With what should we satisfy our cravings for sweets 🙂 ?
I used be addicted to gummi candies, but now instead of jelly beans I eat a spoonful of honey or jam. I also make desserts according to the recipes of Five Elements , which I will tell you all about in future posts 🙂
Recently I looked a little further into the literature of sweets made of raw food (vegetarian sweets), and I believe they are probably the healthiest sweets available on the market.
” Sweets are freshly squeezed juices from organic fruits or with Mexican agave syrup, that is three times sweeter than sugar and that at the same time is four times lower in glycemic index than sugar . The other components of the raw food sweets and snacks are roasted grains, nuts and seeds (including cocoa beans ), fruits, vegetables and natural spices. Vegetarian sweets are also an ideal choice for diabetics who suffer from gluten allergy and other food allergies. Raw food products are free from sugar, barley syrup , molasses, gluten, dairy, lactose, starch, soy, yeast, genetically modified ingredients, and preservatives . ”
Sweets can be replaced by vegetables and fruits (preferably the ones that are available during the according season), that contain sugar like beets, carrots (preferably cooked, they have a greater glycemic index then), and dried fruits and sweet as kiwi, pineapple, dates, prunes (preferably during the noonday)
So, as you can see, what it tasty not always seems to be healthy…
