Red rice
We have various types of rice and I’m glad we can enjoy more of them in our shops. They differ in terms of flavour, colour, consistency, let’s try!
Today, red rice on my blog. It is known for having antitumor properties. It’s not heavy for your stomach and has GI (the glycemic index) lower than white rice. Red rice allows you to stay satiated long. It’s very good for athletes as a carbohydrate meal before a training session. It’s also recommended for allergy sufferers and is good for your heart and nervous system.
It can be served in a dry form with a salad or vegetables served hot, but it’s excellent in sweet dishes, because it’s sweetish itself with a hint of nut flavour. It’s hard, so you need to boil it longer.
I melted butter in a frying pan, put ¾ cup of red rice and heated. Next I put it in the pot. I added anise (optional), poured 2 x ¾ cup of water, added salt and boiled in a covered dish. I heated butter in the frying pan, added spices, heated stirring awhile, then I moved it to the pot with rice. I roasted nuts in the pan and mixed with boiled rice. You can add finely chopped mint or coriander, a little garlic.
And exercise! Off you go! 🙂
