MYKONOS
The vacation was quite short, but will certainly remain memorable.
Wonderful and charming places, friendly and ever-smiling locals, and tourists from all over the world. Memories and moments that I’ve collected in my my mind and pictures, which my camera helps me store :).
Our vacation destination for this year was the Greek island of Mykonos – the equivalent of the Spanish Ibiza :). Mykonos guarantees great weather (thanks to the wind, high temperatures become pleasant), warm sea, and beaches with all the necessary facilities as well as conveniences nearby. The nightlife lovers, fans of sightseeing, and those keen on visiting charming and quaint places – they will all find something for themselves here. The island welcomes you with white-blue buildings, typical for this region, while a maze of narrow streets has plenty of beautiful and unique nooks and corners in store for you.
I’m a people person, and Mykonos is a place that is vibrant with life around the clock, as the tourists bring into this blue-and-white island the colors of the whole world. Although, fun-seekers seem to represent the largest group here, I guess there are as many aficionados of sailing and diving to be found on Mykonos, too.
I’m posting a few of these pictures. It was lovely, and I would like to share it with you.
When it comes to the Greek menu, seafood would be definitely my number one, as I adore it in almost every shape or form. And the vegetables, of course. Especially recommendable are Greek salads, delicious desserts, and typical Greek flavors such as, to name just a few, moussaka, or dolmades (Greek’s answer to our stuffed cabbage – rice wrapped in grape leaves). Give the local cuisine a try – it’s really worth it :).
Which restaurants do I find worth recommending?
I was unable to visit all the places worth it, but according to my impressions of the ones I did, I’ve decided to create a small list 🙂
Ftelia Restaurant – to me by far the coolest one, with surf vibes that can be felt in every corner of this place. Without pomp, excessive extravagance, and redundant fanciness. A place where everyone can find something for themselves. You can taste local wine, eat fresh fish, and treat yourself to a delicious Greek dessert.
Check it out for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/ftelia/?fref=ts
Alemagou Beach Bar – a laidback kind of place, which I can highly recommend not only because of the food, but also due to the gorgeous sunset you can catch while enjoying a lovely dinner. Yeah, it’s worth coming here not just by yourself.
Center of Mykonos
The small Venice is a must-see – though a typical touristy place, it has charming little Greek streets for you to discover. The restaurant I’m recommending is the one in the center, called Koursaros, which offers fresh fish and seafood.

Another beautiful place we came across is Kterina’s Restaurant Cocktail Bar = small Venice. I would recommend sitting on the balcony, from where you can watch the sunset with a glass of red wine in your hand.
Namos Psarou Beach is a place where eating, drinking, and enjoying spectacular views is just a part of the deal. Most importantly, this is an excellent spot for those who, besides the above-mentioned, are also very much into partying, even by day. Those looking for some quiet time might be a tad disappointed, because there are plenty of people here who just want to have fun.
Cavo Tagoo Hotel Mykonos – I recommend it because of the delicious food and an amazing view. Apart from having a nice restaurant, this is a hotel which features a swimming pool and sun beds. Thus, it is an interesting alternative for people who wish to indulge in some sunbathing.
Scorpios – as I have already mentioned, Mykonos is a perfect place for all those party animals out there :). And Scorpios is just the place for people who not only want to sunbathe and enjoy the beautiful Greek weather, but also fool around and have a bit of a wild time. Here, you’ll most certainly get yourself some sunbathing, swimming, and dancing. A sort of vibes and partying typical for Mykonos :).
Santa Marina Resort’s Buddha Bar Restaurant – this restaurant is a great choice for people seeking beautiful views and good food, but with a quieter and more intimate atmosphere. You can surely recharge your batteries here and enjoy the Greek climate to the fullest – best to visit with your better half .
Nobu Matsuhisa – an exquisite restaurant with delicious food. Unfortunately, not the cheapest option out there, but it’s still worth a look.
Spilia Restaurant – sometimes you need to stop for a second to unwind a little, and Spilia restaurant offers perfect ambience for just that. Besides good food, it can also boast beautiful views.
