The decision about starting a healthy lifestyle can be made for a variety of reasons.

One of the most often is dreaming of a shapely body. It is a great motivator for a start. But how can we keep a tight rein on being active systematically and resist temptation when the body meets our expectations?

The happy ones just have jogging, swimming or going to the gym in their daily schedule and they do not need any extra stimulation to be consistent. They have chosen the activities that make them happy, liked eating healthy food and that’s it. They have a good chance to live their lives in health. Unfortunately, there are still ones that need new inspirations, who find it hard to stick to their healthy resolutions.

An extremely powerful weapon to fight temptation is knowledge. It helps me in my everyday decisions. For example:  I used to like, as many of you, highly processed sweets. Biscuits, chocolate bars, sweet drinks, not to mention jelly beans – those made me almost addicted :). When I got interested seriously in the influence of food on my fitness level and on my health at the same time, they lost their charm immediately. Since I got to know what happens to them when they are being digested and what influence it has on my body, I have not had a craving for them anymore. The pleasure I derived from eating them has been replaced with the fun of looking for new flavors in dishes and drinks from fruit and vegetables. I am still discovering new ones! Generally, I must say that the bouquet of flavors I recognize has extended a lot, I can feel subtle differences in flavors and fragrances – here I always discover something new. The world of spices still has its mysteries, but also here, knowledge helps in searching. Many of the world’s spices are not only to enrich the taste of dishes, but also they can have a particular purpose for our health. Recently there have been a lot about curcuma and its antitumor properties in the media.

Knowledge helps in physical activities. We all know that doing sports is one of the most essential elements of a healthy lifestyle. However, too many people treat it only as a way to lose weight. They are also frustrated because repeating the same sets of exercises can be really tiring. In the beginning, this is fun to move from the couch, later, the first effects in the body shape. It is a pleasure to perform correctly exercises, which seemed impossible to do at first. But how to stay motivated?

The happy ones trust the professionalism of their instructors and trainers as I have already mentioned: they have sports activities interwoven in their daily schedule. No internal struggling. For the rest of you I, again, recommend to extend knowledge. How different types of workouts affect our bodies? What do you need to do to become stronger and what to gain endurance? How to prepare for a long-distance run so that your condition will be the best on the starting line? This kind of knowledge will help you to deal with your workouts, but also it is a challenge and this is great! You can fight for a better body shape, agility, strength, you can look for ways to let off steam, but also give a good kick or just bring calmness.
