They are amazing! let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Olympics Games in Rio are not over yet!  Brazilian stadiums are still the center of attention! Poland is represented by 90 athletes at The Paralympics!

How great and wonderful the Paraolympics is was explicitly recognized four years ago in London. We saw the increase in popularity of Paralympic Games – sports fans watched the competition with a similar enthusiasm as the Olympics Games. This year could be even better. Paralympics will be broadcasted into 154 countries, until the 18th of September. This is a record in the history of the Paralympic Movement .TVP  will also show the Brazilian stadiums.

The history of sport for the disabled is dating back to 1948, when neurologist Ludwig Guttmann working in the UK during that time organized a tournament in archery for paralyzed veterans, parallel to the held then in London Olympic tournament. But the first Paralympic Games were officially held  in 1960 in Rome. The name ‘ Paralympics ‘ was first used  in 1984 . Four years later in Seoul , the competitions for the disabled were organized already on the Olympic venues  . (Source: Przegląd sportowy)

Are you cheering for our athletes? Disabled athletes are a great  motivation and inspiration. It is impossible not to ponder while watching their struggles : would i be able to do this if i would be disabled?  would  i find the strength to not only overcome the daily obstacles and limitations , not only to endure sympathetically – curious glances , but also move around the pitch or running track? It would be much easier to give up – after all, no onw require miracles from the disable person

And they work, they live in a world not entirely adjusted to their limits and yet they manage to systematically practice .  When we will realize that we have 2 hands and 2 legs, a healthy spin, muscles , everything.  but we are just lazy… .

Just in 6 months  in March 2017 , we will support our athletes at the Special Olympics ! This year we were hosting the National Winter Games , the most important winter sports event for the Special Olympics in Poland. We welcome around 500 athletes from all over the country  in Bialystok and Zakopane. From  among the medalists of the Games, representation of athletes was selected to represent Poland at World Games in Austria.
