Yoga
You already know me a little bit and you know that I like an active lifestyle, increased heart rate and pulse. However, it sometimes it is worth to slow down and to relax. That does not mean that you let go and spend a day just walking to the refrigerator!
Let’s talk about yoga. This Indian system of exercises with more than four thousand years of tradition allows you to practice and model the body while relaxing the mind.
Doing yoga regularly can significantly improve your health by improving metabolism, increasing the efficiency of the heart and lungs. In addition, you strengthen muscles and normalizes hormonal balance. Interestingly yoga is highly recommended for people who are struggling with chronic diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and arthritis.
An important advantage of yoga is that it can be practiced almost by everyone. If you do not like intense and faster breathing yoga is right for you. Asanas and dynamic exercises can be adapted to the physical fitness and skill level. You do not need special equipment. You need only floor and a blanket 🙂
Improving the flexibility of muscles and internal organs improvement is undoubtedly a plus, but do not forget that yoga is primarily a meditation, conscious breathing, spiritual growth and inner balance. Regular practice of asanas reduces stress on the physical and the spiritual side, and as you probably heard a stress is the cause of most of the problems of modern man. Proper breathing during exercise will stimulate the activity of the body and deliver oxygen to the blood and, consequently, improve brain function and calm the mind. Calm and a deep breath and exhale give you peace and relaxation. Over time, this practice will result in restoring the clarity of mind.
Key benefits of yoga are:
- increasing the flexibility of the spine
- reducing various types of pain
- lowering blood pressure and improving pulmonary function
- reduces tension and stress
- treating arthritis
- balances blood sugar levels
- cure asthma, helps breathing
Yoga has also beneficial effect on the fetus and the mother, so it’s worth it to practice before, during and after pregnancy. First of all, take care of your spine, metabolism and circulation, but also improve the immune system, digestive, excretory, nervous and hormonal. The different asanas reduce the risk of back pain and weight gain during pregnancy and prepare you for childbirth, it helps you to go through it much easier. But remember about the principles of exercise for pregnant women.
If you’ve never had to deal with the practice of yoga do not start on your own. Find a suitable instructor, who will choose the best asanas for you, and will also correct your posture. In yoga its especially about quality, not quantity 🙂
I’m still growing up to practice yoga. Wise person once said: Yoga is needed mostly for people who do not like yoga 🙂
Ps. Ah, and an important issue for me … I personally do not enter into any meditations, initiation into the philosophy of Buddhism, recitation of mantras etc. I take yoga only as a form of physical activity, in order to relax.
Good luck!
