Aromatic Spiced Tofu
Tofu is an ingredient that offers endless possibilities in the kitchen. It is usually associated with a neutral taste, but in this recipe I will show you how to use a few aromatic spices to turn it into an exquisite, warming dish that’s just perfect for colder days. This delicate tofu is marinated with cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves, and then baked with lemon slices. Hence the result: it delights with its simplicity and depth of flavor. I love serving it with a light salad that emphasizes the spicy notes.
Preparation:
I started with the marinade by mixing soy sauce with pressed garlic, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves crushed in a mortar. Then I cut the tofu into cubes, covered it thoroughly with the marinade so that it absorbed all the flavors, and transferred it to an ovenproof dish. I placed lemon slices on top, which gave it a delicate citrus note while baking.
I baked the tofu in an oven preheated to 200°C for 15 minutes, until it was aromatic and lightly browned. I served it with a simple salad of mixed lettuce, cherry tomatoes and cucumber, drizzled with lemon juice and olive oil. It’s a perfect idea for a quick side to your dinner that yields exceptional flavor. Enjoy!
