Apple jam

I wrote few words about apples yesterday

Because apples season is still one and you can find apples at the markets, I decided to create a delicious jam. Instead of normal sugar we can use much healthier coconut sugar.

Coconut sugar is extracted from the sap of the coconut palm, from which the water evaporated. It has a deep brown color and intense caramel smell. It is less sweet than white sugar, and when added to dishes it gives them a unique flavor and aroma. It is rich in nutrients, including vitamins B and potassium. It has a lower glycemic index (GI 35) than white sugar, so it is a great alternative. It is also a source of inulin, which supports the proper functioning of the digestive tract. Its benefits can include low melting point and at the same time high-temperature of burning, making it ideal for baking.

Apple Jam

Preparation:

Wash the apples and peel off the skin, remove the seeds.

Cut the apples into squares / triangles. Then add water, spices, and lemon juice. Cook until the apples will be soft, stirring from time to time. Simmer for approx. 15 minutes, pour the water and add the sugar to have the coconut flavor. Blend it all or mash by using fork. Finally, add cinnamon. Place it in the jar and keep in the fridge, use it for your favorite dishes.
