Colostrum

Colostrum bovinum also known as beestings or first milk is a form of milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals in late pregnancy and a few days after labour.

It contains more than 200 active compounds, such as very important proteins, in an unusual amount:

  • immunoglobulins, antibodies that build a newborn’s immune system
  • lactoperoxidase and lysozyme that provide from bacteria, virus and fungi
  • lactoferrin that works like and acticancer and antiparasitic drug
  • colostrinin that improves memory

It is obtained from cow’s, sheep’s and goat’s milk and works well for humans too. It is used for oral formulations and for cosmetics.

Colostrum is highly recommended for sportsmen, people that feel weak, that are sick often, that had surgeries, during menopause and sick season.

Hydrolysed proteins contained in colostrum lower blood pressure, while peptides provide from caries, bone demineralization and promote bone growth.

It also helps for skin problems, such as cold sore, seborrhoea and acne.
