When I see people in their fifties smoking, it makes me sad, but I’m able to understand getting hooked on cigarettes back in the day when they were almost all over the place.
Back then, people used to smoke in their workplace, on the streets, in the restaurants, inside many households. Actors would smoke in movies, including the audience’s favorites, and you could even stumble upon famous athletes with a cigarette in their mouth! Many young people became addicted to smoking without putting even a single thought into it, and non-smokers were often in minority and didn’t know how to make their voices heard.
The year is 2016 now, and the times we live in are entirely different. Smoking has become passé, non-smokers have finally something to say, and they refuse to spend time in places where there is even a hint of cigarette smoke in the air. But still, to my bewilderment, I keep seeing young and very young people here and there, both men and women smoking as if there were no tomorrow.

It makes me feel stupid to even consider reminding somebody about the harmful effects of smoking. It is not only about inviting lung cancer for dinner. In fact, smokers more often develop serious heart and cardiovascular diseases. You smoke? Then forget about nice complexion! You can identify a longtime smoker right away – and it’s that distinctive complexion that gives them away. As long as you continue smoking, forget about nice pretty hair, being in good condition, and your concentration ability working properly at all times. As a matter of fact, cigarettes do not have a calming effect – it only might seem that way. You’re a smoker? Then I’ll be blunt with you: you reek! You dream about kisses that taste like honey? Forget it – who wants to kiss a stinky ashtray? If you’re also smoking at home, then it reeks, too, and each of your guests can smell it. Your car? It’s just nothing but an old and gross ashtray.
Still not convinced? What about money? Have you actually counted the money you spend on ciggies? Try to estimate how much you spend per year. And – while at – don’t forget that every chain-smoker just keeps smoking MORE AND MORE. How much more dough are you ready to send up in smoke?
I have already written about it countless times – YOU HAVE ONE BODY FOR LIFE. So, please, explain it to me why do you pollute it so? How is it supposed to function properly? You really want to work out and smoke at the same time? All it’s gonna get you is tumors.
Stop telling yourself that you can control it and you’re gonna quit within 3 seconds. If you think you’re up to it– just do it right away. Each hour without a cigarette brings in a profit. If you experience trouble – prepare yourself mentally to let go of this poison. Don’t think of quitting as a punishment, but as a highly desirable reward for yourself, your body, the people close to you, and your wallet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
It’s best not to even try it at all!
