Fat thursday – recipe for angel wings

Fat Thursday is undoubtedly the biggest and most liked holiday for all the donuts eaters 😉 I know people who eat up to a dozen pieces of these pastries that day.

Some of you, as every year, ask me why I give alternative versions of a traditional donuts? Why  I just cant simply go to the bakery to buy a donuts?

Many of you are struggling with allergies or food intolerance. Many have stomach and intestinal problems. Many of you just ask me for a healthy replacement, because you do not want to “sin”.

I am in a group of allergy sufferers and people with intolerances. In addition, you know me a little bit and you know that I like creating new cooking combinations using healthy products. To be honest, I often do not even feel like eating these unhealthy, ready sweets.

Will something happen if you will try a “normal” donuts on Fat Thursday?
Of course not 🙂 Everybody should have a little escape during this “holiday”.
Following the slogan from my shirt: shoes & spaghetti – maybe we should change it today for shoes and … traditional donut :))?

Does it happen to me to sin nutritionally and will I eat a traditionally prepared donuts? 😉

I am  not saying no, but in spite of everything I will also add a recipe for people who really do not have a choice and can not even afford one cheat day . This time its a recipe for angel wings cookies, prepared without wheat and without dairy products.

Preparation:

Place yolks into the bowl, add 1 tbsp of xylitol (you can also use coconut sugar), baking soda and whisk it. Then add vegetable yogurt and flour, mix the dough (mix till it will not be sticky). Roll out the pastry.

I’m not a master in preparing angel wings, but I made them after receiving instructions from people who have experience in this 🙂

Cut the long around 10 centimeters bars with a knife. Inside, make an incision and “lace up” the pastry. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees. Lay the cookies on a baking paper for 10 – 12 minutes. Due to the short baking time, I suggest to look more often into the oven 🙂

At the end I sprinkled the cookies with xylitol.

I have also prepared cookies from some part of the dough 🙂

I am so happy i found out abut you and your healthy plan! You motivate me so much and I hope one day I can look as beautiful and healthy as you! I will definitely try this recipe! And try some other as I’m in the process of losing weight, it hasn’t been easy I have to admit, but with some of your culinary tips at least I have healthy “sin” options for when I’m feeling anxious. Thanks for sharing this for us! Greetings from Mexico. 🙂
