GULA JAVA – just out of curiosity: what is it?
Most of us already know that white and brown sugar have abosolutely no nutrients whatsoever.

But why is it that way when sugarcanes are rich in minerals? Well, the canes lose all of the nutrients during the sugar processing. The only things left are high glycemic index and empty calories that engage many processes in human body to be assimilated.
We can find many alternatives for sugar. One of them is Gula Java.
It comes from Java and is made from coconut’s flowers nectar. Why is it so valuable and recommendable? It’s very rich in nutrients, unrefined and has a very low glycemic index. It’s sweet and tastes a bit like caramel.
It was also considered the most sustainable sugar of all by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The forms of Gula Java that we can find:
- powdered sugar that can be used for baking and decorating
- sugar cubes that can be used as traditional sugar cubes or a kid’s snack that will supply them with energy
- healthy drinks for athletes that boost condition
