How to Take Care of Your Skin in Winter

In winter our skin needs very special care. Cold temperatures, wind and low humidity are the factors that can easily lead to dryness, irritation, and redness. But don’t worry! Today I’m sharing my tried and tested methods of winter skin care with you. Just a few simple steps are enough to enjoy moisturized, healthy skin all season long. Ready?

1. Cleansing – Gentle but Effective

In winter, our skin needs a gentler approach to cleansing so as not to damage its natural protective barrier.

  • Choose mild gels or foams with a neutral pH..
  • Choose cleansing milks and oils that not only cleanse but also care for your skin. I wholeheartedly recommend the Renew pro face cleansing cloud, which effectively cleanses while strengthening the skin’s protective barrier. You can find it HERE – in my Phlov store.
  • After washing, use toners or hydrolates to restore balance and prepare the skin for further care steps. At this stage, I would choose the WATER FLOW face and body mist, which you can find HERE – it wonderfully moisturizes, refreshes and protects against thermal damage, preventing skin dehydration.

2. Moisturizing – the Key to Healthy Skin

Dry air causes the skin to lose water faster than usual, which is why it is important to introduce moisturizing cosmetics that provide extra hydration..

  • Creams with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and glycerin will help maintain hydration for longer. Try a double wave of hydration, increasing your defense capabilities even on those frosty days – HERE I recommend an intensively moisturizing cream that will also boost your energy on these gray days. 🙂
  • Natural oils such as avocado oil, jojoba or shea butter will create a protective layer that prevents water loss.
  • Remember to take care of your lips – balms with beeswax or lanolin will effectively protect them from frost. HERE is one of my favorite products of recent months – Great-full lips serum – It perfectly nourishes the delicate skin so I no longer have to worry about dry lips! 🙂

3. Protection against Frost and Wind

Low temperatures and strong winds can cause skin irritation, so it is important to protect it appropriately.

  • Before going outside, apply creams with a thicker consistency that will create a protective layer.
  • Pay attention to SPF filters – UV radiation is also present in winter, especially when it reflects off snow.  HERE you can find the one I use most often. This product with SPF 50 not only protects, but also intensively moisturizes and nourishes the skin.
  • Avoid hot water when washing your face – warm, but not boiling, water is better for your skin.

4. Peeling and Regeneration

Regular exfoliation helps the skin better absorb active ingredients and removes dead skin cells.

  • Once a week use a gentle enzyme or mechanical peel.
  • Moisturizing masks with aloe, honey or hyaluronic acid are a great choice to winter  take your winter skincare to the next level. The Phlov yogurt mask will work perfectly here! You can find it HERE.

5. Take Care of your Skin from the Inside

Care is not just about cosmetics – it is also means proper diet and hydration.

  • Make sure you drink plenty of water and herbal teas to keep your skin hydrated from the inside. How much water to drink and what kind to choose? You can find the answers HERE.
  • Introduce foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids into your diet (e.g. fish, nuts, flax seeds), which support the skin’s protective barrier.
  • Don’t forget about vitamins A, C and E which have antioxidant properties and support skin regeneration.

6. Hand and Foot Care – Often Overlooked, but Essential!

  • Use hand creams after every wash, preferably with the addition of glycerin or urea.
  • Apply a thick layer of cream at night and wear cotton gloves – this is a way to quickly regenerate.
  • Choose socks made of natural materials and use moisturizing foot creams to avoid dryness.

Summary

Winter skincare requires a few minor changes, but the effects are worth it! By focusing on protection, hydration and regeneration, you can enjoy healthy, radiant skin even in the coldest weather. Remember that skincare is not just about cosmetics – take care of your skin from the inside as well, by drinking water and providing it with valuable ingredients from your diet. And most importantly – listen to your skin and adapt your skincare to its current needs!
