Gratitude! Today is the International Day of Happiness!

Do you know that … being grateful increases the feeling of being happy by 25% (according to research done by Dr. Robert Emmons).

There are such breakthrough moments in our lives, when we write down all important events, dreams and goals for us.

The New Year, birthdays or other individual, important moments  are the most special for us.

“In a study at Harvard University in 1979, the last year students were asked how many of them had their goals and action plans written down. Only 3% wrote down and specified their goals, 13% set them, but did not write them down, and 84% did not specify them at all. Ten years later, it turned out that those who did  write their intentions were 10 times more likely to succeed than others. ”

Are we happier when achieving the set goals?

For sure! It gives us satisfaction and drives us to continue working.

If we were to write out the list, the things we are dreaming about, which we want to achieve in our lives, it would certainly be long.

If we were to create a list of things we regret – we would also find a lot of points.

If we were to write a list now, with points for what we are grateful  each day? … it would bring us closer to the feeling of happiness (according to the research). WE ARE SATISFIED every day, whether during travel, contacts with close people, newly met people, during training, or other spheres of life that are important to us.

Robert Emmons, the world’s leading scientific expert in gratitude, discovers why being grateful is good for our bodies, our minds and our relationships.

He examined over a thousand people between the ages of 8 and 80 and discovered that people who practice gratitude constantly report many benefits:

Physical:

• A stronger immune system

• Less different types of pain

• Lower blood pressure

• More physical activity and taking care of your health

• A longer sleep, and much more energy when you wake up

Psychological:

• A higher level of positive emotions

• More vigilance

• More joy and pleasure

• More optimism and happiness

Social:

• More compassion, empathy, generosity and willingness to help

• More understanding

• Greater openness to people

• Less loneliness and isolation

Why can gratitude have such an impact on people’s lives?

  1. Gratitude allows us to celebrate the present. We are more focused on what is happening HERE and NOW. It strengthens positive emotions.
  2. Being grateful increases our sense of happiness by at least 25%.
  3. Gratitude blocks toxic, negative emotions, such as jealousy, resentment, grief – emotions that can destroy our happiness.
  4. Affects better sleep and better well-being. Grateful people feel greater joy, they are more energetic.
  5. Grateful people have better relationships with other people.
  6. Grateful people are more resistant to stress. There are many studies showing that in the face of serious trauma, adversity and suffering, if people have a grateful temperament, they regenerate faster.
  7. Grateful people have higher self-esteem.
  8. Being grateful each day results in a greater influx of endorphins, affects our training and the desire to care for our health.
  9. Thanks to gratitude, we give the possibility of success to other people, because it’s other people that contribute to success – supporting parents, partner, close people, through teachers, trainers, mentors, etc.
  10. Gratitude is a readiness to forgive, which means getting rid of negative emotions.

We are grateful to know that we get more than we deserve.

Someone might say, “Well, we did not get what we deserved”?

I am grateful because I get so much more than I deserve.
