Prepare Your Hair for Summer – Regeneration Guide
Summer is coming real soon. The days are getting warmer and we feel like spending more and more time outdoors. We know perfectly well that in summer, regardless of the level of sunlight, we should protect the skin against UV radiation in order to enjoy a beautiful and – above all – healthy tan. But today I would like to discuss a different subject – since summer skin care is already obvious to us, it’s time to take care of our hair. If you follow a few simple tips, you will not have to look for handbooks on how to regenerate your hair after summer holidays when fall sets in.
Good habits for healthy hair
We’ll begin with the things we can do ourselves to help our hair. I have compiled a short list of good habits that we should follow and some things that we ought to avoid. Let’s get started!
1. Don’t go out in the sun with wet hair – when wet, they are much more susceptible to UV radiation which can destroy and damage them. Salt water is unfortunately the worst in this respect and bleached hair is the most vulnerable to damage. If you plan on sunbathing, a loose hat to cover your head or a towel around your hair is a good plan, and so is a shower right after a dip in the sea!
2. Avoid hot air from the hair dryer. It is better to dry your hair naturally (you can help it and blow dry it with a slight warm blow close to your head). Avoid hot air. Otherwise they will dry out and may frizz.
3. Do not wear a hat on wet hair – this is especially true of tight, close-fitting caps, for example those with eyeshade. Damp hair is softer and more prone to damage (not to mention that a tight cap will just press it and we will lose volume). As before, put on a loose hat or a scarf.
4. In summer, be careful with hot devices – a straightener, a curling iron, a dryer. High temperature can additionally dry out the hair which is exposed to water loss in the sun. If you want to use these devices, first protect your hair against heat with a special spray or use a properly selected conditioner, e.g. Listen To Your Hair.
5. If you are planning a longer stay in the sun and you are worried that UV radiation will damage your hair, use special hair mists, oils or balms with SPF protection. That’s right – your hair needs sun protection just like the skin does!
6. After sun exposure, remember to take care of your hair. Moisturizing, or even the use of an oil, is extremely necessary if the hair has been exposed to heat and UV radiation all day long.
If you keep these several easy things in mind, taking care of your hair will become a lot easier!
Proper care is key
It’s more than obvious that if we want to enjoy beautiful, well-groomed hair, we must take care of it throughout the year. That is why you will find as many as four sets of hair products in Phlov, i.e. shampoos and conditioners:
- A set for colored and damaged hair
- A set for normal hair
- A set for hair prone to dandruff and greasiness
- A set for fine hair
The order in the list is not random! The first set will help you rebuild your hair if it is damaged by UV rays. They are also a great protection against damage caused by temperature and oxidation.
The second one gives your hair and scalp perfect and long-lasting moisture essential in dry summer weather. Both temperature and air conditioners can lead to dehydration.
But some of us have oily scalp and hair, a problem that is often exacerbated by high temperatures. The third set will help combat this issue and its accompanying symptoms such as itching, blemishes, and the unpleasant smell of greasy hair.
Finally, the last set will be useful for those who dream of not only rebuilding their hair, but also giving it some more volume. The set for fine hair strengthens the hair structure and makes it more elastic. We often tie our hair in the summer, which may damage it and lead to loss in elasticity.
But that’s not all! The amazing advantage of our hair cosmetics is that they work both together and separately. Mix & match is one of our favorite slogans, and that’s how we created this collection. So you can easily just go for the All By MyHair cleansing mask, match it either with the Hair In The Game moisturizing shampoo or the regenerating one Hair Do You Do! Complete the ritual with Whenever, Hair-ever conditioner. But most importantly, make sure you adjust the care to your own needs!
Extra support – treatments
If you want to provide your hair with extra:
- Nutrition
- Moisture
- Protection
there is no better way than to ask your hairdresser. In hairdressing salons, we have a choice of many treatments that will help you get beautiful, well-groomed and healthy-looking hair. I rely on expert advice on this topic, and that’s why my hair has been under the professional care of Marylka from Duda Hair Design for a long time.
But Marylka has a lot of good advice up her sleeve – also for home care. One of her recipes for a homemade moisturizing mask can be found on Phlov Instagram account in our reels: HERE
Beautiful hair for beautiful summer
Hair and scalp care has a lot of nuances – there are lots of textbooks and guides for hair maniacs for a reason. Fortunately, for most of us, a few good habits, appropriately selected cosmetics, and a bit of loving attention are enough to enjoy beautiful, shiny and healthy hair all summer long 🙂
