Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables to Boost Your Health

Although it’s still warm and sunny outside, it’s a good idea to start supporting your immunity now, so that you don’t get caught out by sudden changes in temperatures and autumn foul weather which are conducive to colds. Market stalls are now overflowing with fresh, seasonal fruits, vegetables and fermented pickles, so I encourage you to eat them regularly, because as you already know from my previous posts, proper nutrition is one of the key issues in building immunity.

Proper nutrition is one of the pillars of my philosophy of life. When preparing daily meals, I encourage you to choose ingredients that are healthy and currently in season. It will not only make your meals tasty, but also full of valuable nutrients and vitamins.

Fermented pickles

First of all, fermented pickles are a great source of vitamin C. They strengthen our digestive system and positively affect the development of healthy intestinal bacteria. Regular consumption of fermented pickles improves the work of muscles, including the heart, and supports the body’s mineral and water-electrolyte balance. It is also worth emphasizing that they are low in calories. Remember that apart from cucumbers and cabbage, you can also ferment garlic, beetroot, cauliflower, peppers or radishes. Depending on the type of vegetable, they can also contain significant amounts of A, E or B vitamins, as well as minerals, such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Polish treasures of late summer and autumn

Now you can find the tastiest fruit and vegetables at market stalls where they are the freshest and straight from local suppliers. I especially recommend tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, pumpkin, broccoli, cabbage, eggplants, spinach, and kale, on the basis of which you can prepare delicious, multi-vegetable, one-pot dishes such as lecho or creamy soups.

Juicy plums, pears, apples, and raspberries are also in season now, and you can eat them either on their own or use them to spice up your morning porridge. It is also a great idea to prepare low-calorie smoothies, desserts and other healthy sweet snacks.

If you’re looking for some inspiration for meals based on seasonal products, you’ll find lots of great recipes on my blog and you should definitely check out the delicious meals we prepare at SuperMenu.
