Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha – POWER AND PEACE! It’s also called – Indian ginseng. I came across this supplement over a year and a half ago when I met with an ayurvedic doctor.

I’m really into ayurveda to be honest, but I’ll write more about it in another article.

Ashwagandha has been known and used since ancient times. In Sanskrit Ashwagandha means “the smell of a horse”. This herb comes from India’s dry regions, north Africa and Near East. Nowadays it’s also grown in temperate climate regions. Personally I’ve been using it for over a year and a half.

Why do people take it?

It’s mostly used in:

  • chronic stress
  • fatigue
  • lack of energy
  • concentration problems

Effects:

Ashwagandha contains many curative compounds such as alkaloids, choline, fatty acids or amino acids. Its main effects are:

  • immune system protection
  • improves reflex speed and reaction time – IMPORTANT FOR ATHLETES
  • boosts stamina
  • boosts mental dexterity
  • rejuvenates
  • reduces stress
  • empowers
  • works like an anti-inflammatory drug
  • improves memory and has powerful protective effects on your nervous system
  • improves genital system function
  • boosts potency (men and women)
  • stabilizes blood sugar

Use:

The recommended dose is 600 to 1000g, twice a day. It should be taken in the evening, especially when you suffer from sleeping disorders and anxiety or work a lot and function under a lot of stress.

Ashwagandha is not recommended for pregnant women.
