Regeneration Smoothie
Today I would like to show you a recipe for a delicious and filling smoothie that’s perfect for every athlete or a physically active person. It is sure to give you an energy boost and it will speed up your body’s regeneration after an intense workout. It’s also rich in compounds with antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect our bodies against free radicals which intensify oxidative stress and and thus may contribute to the formation of certain diseases, including cancer. This smoothie owes its antioxidant properties to extraordinary ingredients which I have used to prepare it: beetroot, cherry juice, and pomegranate juice.
Beetroots
Beets contain betaine which is an antioxidant. They are also a good source of folic acid, vitamins A, C, and K. They also contain magnesium, potassium, iron, and manganese. Beetroots are rich in nitrates which raise the concentration of nitric oxide which regulates blood pressure. Beets also have a positive effect on the heart and strengthen the circulatory system.
Cherry juice
Cherries contain vitamin C and B vitamins. They are also a good source of fiber, iron, and potassium, as well as certain amount of calcium. They owe their color to anthocyanins which can inhibit inflammation and pain. They are also a source of superoxide dismutase that fights free radicals.
Pomegranate juice
Research has shown that pomegranate juice may contain up to three times more polyphenols than green tea or red wine. As a result, when consumed on a regular basis, this juice has a positive effect on the heart. It also prevents arterial hypertension and protects the body against atherosclerosis. Pomegranate juice is a great source of vitamin C and has antibacterial properties.
Preparation:
Blend all ingredients.
