The DASH Diet – A Healthy and Slender Body
Do you know that an average Pole consumes as much as 13.7 grams of salt a day? This is almost three times more than the values recommended by the World Health Organization. Salt overuse increases the risk of many chronic diseases, including high blood pressure. Therefore, the first step towards shaping healthy eating habits should be cutting down on it in our meals through conscious choice of the products we eat. SuperMenu dietary catering may be helpful throughout the process 🙂
You often write to me about problems with controlling what and in what amounts you consume. In many cases, this is due to the lack of ability to calculate caloric requirements, but easy access to highly processed food, and not reading the labels are also to blame. However, obesity, which is one of the diseases of civilization, is not an exclusive problem of Poles only. It is also the excessive consumption of salt, which causes hypertension, and this in turn leads to the development of e.g. heart failure. Despite the fact that the World Health Organization recommends a maximum of 5 grams a day (the equivalent of one teaspoon), and the physiological requirement of an adult’s body is 2 to 3 grams a day, we are used to adding it to virtually every dish.
I have a perfect solution for you – the DASH diet! It is not only healthy, but also easy to use and does not require following numerous food restrictions. It is a balanced model of nutrition that helps to introduce the products needed for the proper functioning of the circulatory system. I wrote about the DASH diet earlier HERE. Below you will find a bit more information about it.
A diet without sacrifice
You probably wonder what DASH actually means. It is short for dietary approaches to stop hypertension, meaning nutritional plan against hypertension. The rules of composing meals are similar to those of the Mediterranean diet. Moreover, it is very easy to follow. You do not have to give up your favorite dishes, but only slightly modify them.
If you want to support your body in the fight against hypertension and other civilization diseases, starting the DASH diet is a reasonable choice. Its main principle is to use less salt, and the basis of the nutritional plan are low-processed foods, as well as vegetables and fruit, which are a source of vitamins, minerals, flavonoids and plant-based protein, including nuts and seeds. It also contains fish rich in valuable omega-3 fatty acids as well as products rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium, such as low-fat dairy products.
It is also worth remembering that the DASH diet reduces blood pressure, reduces the risk of developing heart disease and has a positive effect on the lipid profile. It also reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, and depression, improves cognitive functions, and most importantly, helps to extend life expectancy.
Two in one: body and shape support
Do you know that DASH is recognized by numerous scientists as the healthiest diet in the world? It is also referred to as medicinal, because it helps not only to protect the body against civilization diseases, but also allows you to maintain good condition and proper body weight. According to the report “The growing importance of health and the eating habits of Poles. SuperMenu 2021” 41% of Poles find healthy eating difficult. Those who do not have enough time and do not have the specialist knowledge to implement healthy nutrition into their lives will find my SuperMenu dietary catering really helpful.
In the DASH diet, we gave up adding salt to meals, and we also limited the amount of red meat. In addition, the dishes do not contain sugar, wheat and raw cow’s milk. Thanks to this, our nutritional plan not only supports the circulatory system, but also contributes to the improvement of the condition and appearance of the body.
