sirloin steak recipe

I wrote some time ago that I’m going back to eating meat. It turned out that my body of an athlete needs animal protein. I happen to often go with beef, because it contains the least calories among red meats and has the smallest amount of saturated fatty acids.

This meat is a very valuable source of iron and B-group vitamins, which are hard to come by in plants. Furthermore, 100 g of boiled lean beef covers 50% of the daily protein requirement for a healthy adult.

Getting your hands on good-quality meat is rarely easy. Unfortunately, meat farms are usually just meat factories, where animals are denied daylight, let alone natural pastures. The feed contains hormones that promote unnatural growth and antibiotics, which are administered to animals just in case. Then there’s brine and other enhancers which increase the volume of meat products and allow them to survive transportation and storage. Eventually we walk into a supermarket to find pieces of something that is vacuum-packed, but has got nothing to do with actual meat.

You don’t need to eat meat every day. Two or three times a week is almost more than enough, and the portions don’t have to be that big, too. Thus, it is better to invest in a more expensive, but genuine meat product than to buy a pig in a poke, so to speak. You still can find small shops run by reputable manufacturers in big cities. Naturally, this is easier to be done in smaller towns – you can try and reach a reasonable breeder on your own. Unfortunately, the days when every farm in the countryside had a few, or even a dozen of animals are long gone.

Today, guys, I’ve prepared a recipe for a sirloin steak dish.

Preparation:

First, I washed the meat thoroughly, and I put it in the hot dry pan. Next, I fried it over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side. Then, I put it away and covered it. Afterwards, I cut the red bell pepper into stripes and unpeeled cucumber into triangles. In a sizeable bowl, I placed the cleaned rucola, all the vegetables, and the meat which I had cut into stripes beforehand. Next, I mixed the sauce ingredients thoroughly and added to the salad. At the end, I sprinkled the whole thing with coriander leaves.

Enjoy!
